Turkish Language, Principles of Atatürk and History of Revolution, and Foreign Language courses, which are compulsory in all departments of all universities in Turkey, as well as Occupational Health and Safety courses, which are compulsory in some departments, are offered in two different ways at our university's Vocational School and Faculties.
Our students can either attend these courses in a classroom setting on Saturdays or take them online via distance learning. During the course registration week, when registering for courses, the system will ask students to choose between Face-to-Face or UZEM (Distance Education) for Turkish Language, Principles of Atatürk and History of the Revolution, Foreign Language (only an option for Vocational School and State Conservatory students), and Occupational Health and Safety courses.
Note: Education Faculty students will take these courses in person; the system will not offer options.
Since Foreign Language courses will be taken in person in 4-year and above faculties, students will not be offered options for the Foreign Language course.
When choosing these courses as Face-to-Face or UZEM, you must pay attention to the following points. A- Students who choose these courses as Face-to-Face:
Attendance at classes is mandatory.
Classes will be held on Saturdays in the classrooms of the Faculty of Medicine in a classroom environment. B- Students who choose Common Courses as UZEM:
Classes will only be conducted online, and attendance is not mandatory.
Classes will be followed through the course portal at eders.omu.edu.tr. Please follow the UZEM (Distance Education Center) website (uzem.omu.edu.tr) for information on this matter.
Students who choose UZEM for their courses will pay 200 TL per course per semester.
Students from the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Law will pay 400 TL per course since they register for these courses annually.
Students who choose UZEM courses will submit their course registrations for advisor approval and pay the UZEM fees at a later date to be determined. Students can pay their course fees using their student numbers via ZİRAAT BANKASI ATMs and Internet Banking.
Once course selections are complete and classes are finalized, your password to log into the UZEM system will be as follows. Username: Your student number, password: The first 6 digits of your Turkish ID number + the first 3 letters of your name in uppercase. For example, the password for a student named AHMET with a Turkish ID number of 12345678900 would be 123456AHM.
Note: 1- The exam schedule will be announced at your schools, on department bulletin boards, and at uzem.omu.edu.tr.
2- Students who wish to be exempt from English courses must take and pass the Foreign Language Exemption Exam on September 24, 2025.
