Foundation
With the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2013/5114 published in the Official Gazette dated July 24, 2013, Yaşar Doğu Physical Education and Sports College was converted into Yaşar Doğu Faculty of Sports Sciences. The Recreation Department began accepting students for the 2018-2019 academic year as a first-cycle program.
Degree Awarded
Graduates who successfully complete all program requirements receive a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation.

Rules Regarding the Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, informal, non-formal)
In Turkish higher education institutions, the recognition of prior formal (formal) learning for vertical, horizontal, and intra-university transfers is carried out within the scope of the “Regulation on the Principles of Transfer, Double Major, Minor, and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer Between Associate and Bachelor's Degree Programs in Higher Education Institutions” established by the Higher Education Council. In Turkey, the process of recognizing non-formal learning based on certificates or experience (informal and non-formal) outside of formal education institutions is still in its early stages. Therefore, the recognition of prior learning has not yet been fully implemented in all programs at Ondokuz University. However, exemption exams are held at the beginning of each academic semester for courses such as Computer Science and English or German included in the program's curriculum. Students who believe they meet the expected proficiency levels for these courses have the right to take the exams. Students who take the exam and pass are exempt from the relevant courses in the curriculum.
Eligibility Requirements and Rules
The eligibility requirement for graduation is to successfully complete all courses available in the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS) and to have a weighted grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00.
Program Profile
The Recreation Department program implements an intensive curriculum in sports sciences and recreation. An educational program is carried out that will enable students to play an active role in all kinds of organizations within the recreation industry. In addition to theoretical courses, this program provides specific training in the branches chosen by the students.
Employment Profiles of Graduates (with examples)
Our graduates can work in the central and regional organizations of the General Directorate of Youth and Sports, as well as in sports federations, sports clubs, and all public and private sector organizations that include fitness and recreational activities.
Transition to Higher Degree Programs
Candidates who successfully complete their undergraduate education can pursue graduate programs in their own or related fields, provided they obtain a valid score on the ALES exam and have sufficient English language proficiency.
